Bowery Ballroom 9.28.05 (birthday show)

bestest show ever!! the audience wasn't as rawdy as I feared. thank god! He played Good About Me. It is the one song I've always wanted to hear live. Ashes Everywhere was bittersweet as always. Execellent verison of Can't Exist. Crying Like A Man this time wasn't ruined by cat calling girls. We all sang "happy birthday" to JA after the 1st encore (he was also singing) . He then dedicated birthday card to himself. You Are the Dark this time was a real quiet, you can hear a pin drop. At the end he said "thank you for being at my birthday party...." silly JA! we love him.

Kim and I got a chessy birthday card (like the dorks that we are) for him. We handed to him after the show, he was such a sweetheart saying "come here and give me a hug" we both got our hugs and chatted him a bit more then we were on our way. It was such a nice night. =)

world cafe 9.26.05

oh JA where do I begin. Kim and I drove 3 hours to a lovely venue in Philly. We got seats up front infront of all his gadgets. We had dinner while Jeff Klein was singing away.
Setlist hilights...opened with You Are the Dark, how funny when we were just talking about it in the car, then Devil's Broom was amazing, best verison I've heard so far. Speed of Light was so beautiful with the church bell affects. Innocent World is a favorite of mine and he did it beautifully. I was so thrilled to hear Big City Secrets live after years of hearing 20+ verisons of that song on bootlegs. (dork!)

after the show we got to chat with JA himself. He couldn't be nicer while we're confessing our obessession for him. haa! but seriously, he really listened and he asked me for my opinion of the Irving Plaza benefit show he did with 10 other artists. I was so nervous I hope I said the right thing. In the end he said, "say hi at the Bowery show" awwww! so nice of him to say that.

review of bowery show coming soon!
